FRIDAY 13TH DECEMBER

In todays lesson we decided to have time to discussing all the technical elements of the play. We discussed the type of staging which we agreed would be a Thrust stage, as this brings the play into the audience and also it allows for more opportunity to stage things in unusual ways. We also briefly touched on what kind of lighting we were going to use. I think the lighting is going to be a key factor in giving off the mood of certain scenes, especially the more darker scenes, like the Artaud routine.

WEDNESDAY 11TH DECEMEBER

For todays lesson we had one to ones with our drama teacher and we worked on our monologues. We done this since we weren't in our usual drama room.
For my monologue I had to ensure I paced myself and slow down on my deliverance, I had to enjoy the words I was saying and not simply look like I was trying to remember them. I also added some actions to my monologue, I decided that I wanted to look as if I was extracting the power and evil from myself and passing it on to Fred. So for this I had a tight grasp on his head and my voice was a lot louder and this power passed onto him. He also helps with his reaction this spell, which shows the audience the impact of my words on him.

MONDAY 9TH DECEMBER

In todays double lesson we followed the same structure of last weeks Monday lesson, in which we go over the play scene by scene. We began with the office scene which we decided we were going to make our miming a lot more bigger since there is no talking. After this we moved on to the club scene, for this we though it best if we delivered our lines with more enthusiasm and excitement. This worked well as it contrasted well with the spell chant we say after this.
we also decided that we were going to have Fred walk into the scene through the door to the theatre room. This worked well with my line 'Macbeth doth come' and it made a lot more sense then what we previously had. We also made the decision that we wanted Fred to interact with the audience a lot more.
As well as this, as the witches we wanted to make it clear that we were waitressing, so I ensured that I was stopping and acting and smiling as if I were truly serving drinks to someone.

FRIDAY 6TH DECEMBER

In todays lesson we decided that we should focus on getting the lines together for the script since we had not yet finished this. Me and Lakesha took charge and we looked for lines which would accommodate the script. We tried to ensure that each of us had at least 5 minutes of talking and also we ensure we each have a small monologue to say.

WEDNESDAY 4TH DECEMBER

In today's lesson we picked up where we stopped last lesson which was carrying on with analysing each scene and seeing what needed to improved. The scene we looked at today was the Artaud scene between the witches. Myself and my group thought that we were not including any Artaudain techniques in our play, and since he was one of our chosen practioners we had to quickly fix this. Therefore we decided that the scene in which the witches transform into Lady Macbeth would be Artaudain.
We worked on this scene and decided that when I scream to the audience I would go to the middle of our thrust stage with perhaps a red spotlight on me. I thought this would work really well in not only keeping with our chosen practioner but it would really scare the audience. Another comment we made was that we felt the scene was quite short and we've decided to make it longer by prolonging our walking towards the audience and to also choreograph a small routine for the scene.

MONDAY 2ND DECEMBER

In todays lesson we went over our whole play again and then decided to focus on specific scenes, so we started from the beginning and worked our way.
After running through the whole play we decided it would best if we kept the tables stationary and only move them towards the end of the play when it was needed. I thought this was a good idea, since there are only four of us in the group we cant afford to move tables and chairs across the stage as it would cause too much a disruption on stage and also it makes a lot of noise.
So we started on the Office scene which said had to be synched, as we were all moving at different speeds and it didn't make the scene go as smoothly as it needs to be. So me, Lakesha and Lashawna worked on synching ourselves so we could go underneath the table at the same time.

MONDAY 25TH NOVEMBER

Task one:

In today's lesson as a group we thought that it'd be best if we got all of the remaining lines sorted. I began to pick out lines from the script which I thought would best deliver our ruling idea of deceit and ambition. As well as this we also got a chance to see our previous rehearsal which we recorded. When looking back I thought that we.as the witches did not look scary and 'supernatural' enough for the image we are going for and also for our one of our chosen practitioners which is Artaud. Also when looking at the footage I thought that we are trying to portray Lady Macbeth as having two different persona's. One of her actually being Lady Macbeth and the other of her being a witch, I thought to physically show this we could each where half of a mask which would conceal our chosen identity. One half would be Lady Macbeth and the other a more wicked witch side.

Task Two:

Stereotype: An oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

Assistant Director: The role of assistant director is to essentially assistant the director. They support the director by organising and planning everything. Their job is more to observe what is going on.

Alienated: Making someone feel isolated or estrange.

Actioning: A technique which assumes that every spoken sentence is delivered with a specific intention- and that this intention changes with each sentence.

Task Three:

With the ruling idea in mind I've chosen costumes which I think would reflect this. As our world is set in politics, we've come up with the idea that Lady Macbeth would wear a RED blazer. A blazer for the simple fact that it shows power and gives the impression of being professional and 'business-like'. And the colour red because for me it has connotations of meaning danger, which is what we want our audience to feel. We want them to know this woman is dangerous. It's also bright colour which will immediately grab the audiences attention.

For the witches I was thinking that I wanted them to look ver different to Lady Macbeth, so we can successfully show the contrast between these two women. A long black, possibly rugged dress would be a good option with the contrast of the bright red blazer she wears. I also thought that the witches would wear half of their face covered. This would conceal their darker side or vice versa. This would keep in with our ruling idea of deceit.

For Macbeth, since we have decided that he would be a politician, a suit seems like the best choice. However I think in the beginning of the play we seem look a bit more scruffy and goofy, but as the play develops his appearance begins to catch up with his status.
